Raise Children on Praise
-
Never try to teach children manners by being rude to them.
-
Praise behaviors you would like repeated.
-
Try to ignore behaviors that you don't want repeated.
-
From the day they are born, treat children with the same respect that you would treat any adult.
-
Respect a child's opinion as you would respect an adult's opinion.
-
Teach children by example.
-
Set a curfew.
-
Decide ahead of time what will be the consequences if the curfew is not met.
-
Condemn the action not the child.
-
Never tell a child they are bad.
-
When you put a child to bed, tell them you will see them in the morning.
-
Tell the child many times in a day that you love them.
-
Tell a child that they are beautiful and that it's a present from God.
-
A small child sees themselves only through their parents' eyes.
-
Never criticize a child in private or especially in public.
-
Let them be themselves.
-
Get out of their way.
-
Help them to be what they want to be, not what you want them to be.
-
Don't talk about them to other people, in front of them.
-
Expose them to many sports and let them choose what interests them.
-
Don't label them, "the smart one", "the artistic one", "the athletic one"
-
Children will live up to parents expectations whether positive or negative.
